Sunset over Saltspring
I took a Saturday night trip that started as a passage to Port Browning, but due to lack of wind (and gas) decided to just soak up the sunset at Point Fairfax.
The forecast was for winds 10-20knots, but it did not transpire in Haro Strait although I did manage to find enough to enjoy a solid 5.6 knot beam reach across the riptide before it all died out.
I turned around, trimmed the sails, set the autopilot and set to work fixing the steaming light which did not come on when I turned on the navigation lights. I spent 20 minutes working on it at the mast while I was heading southwest but decided to wait till I was in the harbour to get it repaired, and so I taped my flashlight onto the mast and sailed for home.
The setting sun during the return to Sidney is below :-)
I can’t actually think of a better way to enjoy a Saturday evening…
