Lunching with Karibu
I had a fantastic Sunday! I sailed Sunday morning early so I could catch a bit of the wind that was lingering from Saturday night, and was able to enjoy about 1.5 hours worth of wind before it left me :(. I dropped the sails and because I was only 15 minutes from the Spit, I decided I would go there for lunch and maybe do a bit of work.
I made lunch, coffee and then decided to set to work mounting the little cargo crane I got a while back. I was about 2/3rds finished when the phone rang. It was Jo-Anne calling to tell me that her parents were on there way to the Spit as well, and that I should look for them. I grabbed the binoculars and scanned the horizon and before long I found them about 20 minutes away.
The arrived and almost went straight past me before they saw me waving to them. Wolfi turned and came up along side and then within a minute or two they had rafted to me and we were talking lunch :-).
It has been a little over a year since we both got boats here and we have had a couple of misses but today for the first time we both landed at the same place for a visit. It was awesome. Had we actually planned this, Jo could have come too, but alas, spur of the moment things transpire like this.
We BBQ-ed and the wind and sun both came out to join us, so at 3pm, Wolfi untied, raised the jib, and was off! I was about 30 minutes behind them making my way home too after having a great afternoon out there..
